20-11 After Prom! SPONSORS NEEDED

March 21, 2011

Dear Bedford City School District Friend,

Spring is in the air and Bedford High School seniors are counting down the days to “Prom” and graduation. As you can imagine, the safety concerns for high school students during this time of the year is heightened. According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), during a typical Prom weekend, 40% of traffic deaths of 15-20 year olds were alcohol related. As concerned parents – and with your help – we want to change those odds.

As a PTA, the safety and well-being of Bedford High School students is our first priority; therefore, we are hosting a supervised, substance–free After Prom party. The event is being designed to provide the maximum enjoyment, excitement, and adventure while providing centrally located access and a safe alternative to other ventures after the Prom ends at 11:30 p.m. (Friday, May 20). The After Prom starts at midnight and ends at 5:00 a.m. (Saturday, May 21). The Bedford Heights Recreation Center will be totally transformed for a fun-filled night of excitement – dance contest, movies, free-throw contest; practical prizes, Karaoke, comedy, card games, basketball, billiards, board games, video games, and table tennis are some of the anticipated activities. Of course, a variety of hot and cold food items and beverages will be on hand, as well. Terrific prizes are an added attraction for students to stay at the After Prom. Drawings for prizes will be held throughout the event and students must be present to win.

To meet our planning/budget timetable, we need individuals, businesses, and organizations to help co-sponsor the After Prom again this year. Please see sponsor structure – as noted on our website www.bedfordhighpta.org and after this letter. Bedford High School PTSA is a 501 (c) (3) organization as designated through the IRS. Your contribution is tax deductible to the extent of the law. With your support, we can ensure a safe, successful, and exceptional event for the Class of 2011. We truly appreciate all donations. If you have any questions, please call (440) 786-9855.

After Prom Letter to Parents/Guardians and Class of 2011

After Prom Letter Link

Note: Deadline to attend After Prom FREE is March 1st

Announcement to the Class of 2011

Attention: Parents/Guardians and Students

The Bedford High Parent-Teacher-Student Association is hosting the After Prom this year. As our plans have been ongoing since September, there are several specifics to share with you at this time.

Note: Student attendance at the Prom is not a requirement to attend the After Prom.

IMPORTANT: For security and curfew concerns, students will not be able to come and go at this event. Instantaneous telephone calls to parent(s)/guardian(s) will occur for violations. Parental acknowledgement and waiver forms are mandatory for all students attending After Prom – ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!

NOTE: All school fees have to be paid. After Prom dates must be in the 9th grade or higher and age limit is 22. Dates do not have to attend Bedford High. Acceptable identification will be required for admittance. Two police officers will be on site during the entire event and an auxiliary police officer will monitor the parking area.

There will be NO CHARGE for the After Prom if the parent or student is a current member of the Bedford High PTSA. Membership in the PTSA is $5.00 (FIVE DOLLARS). A membership application hyperlink is located at the bottom of the home page on our website http://www.bedfordhighpta.org/6.html or contact Mrs. Clements at the high school. The rigid deadline for purchasing a PTSA membership is MARCH 1, 2011 – NO EXCEPTIONS PLEASE!

For those who choose not to become a member of the PTSA, admission to the After Prom is $15.00 per person or $25.00 per couple. (No tickets sold at the door!) Dancing, movies, practical prizes (perhaps Cedar Point tickets and much more), Karaoke, card games, basketball, billiards, board games, and table tennis are some of the anticipated activities. Of course, a variety of hot and cold food items and beverages will be on hand, as well.

The location of the After Prom, ticket information, and further facts, forms, and resolute rules will be forthcoming in March. Right now, the focus is VOLUNTEERS. We MUST HAVE volunteers to help with this titanic task. If you can volunteer for 60 minutes or more to help with set up on Friday, May 20, or during the event, on Saturday, May 21, from MIDNIGHT until 5AM, please let us know ASAP via e-mail at BHSPTSAAfterProm@aol.com or call Mrs. Robinson at (440) 786-9855.

Positive parent participation (and ardent volunteers) will ensure a safe, successful, and exceptional event for the Class of 2011. Thank you in advance for your precious time and assistance.
